E-news, May 10, 2018

Greetings to all members and friends of Aikido Hokuryukai. We hope you are enjoying what seems to be the first hint of summer.

Here are a few notes about what is coming up in the dojo.

  • The class schedule for May is now online. You will note that, as usual, classes for the long weekend May 19-21 (Victoria Day) are cancelled. Enjoy the weekend with your friends and family!
  • If you are interested in doing intense training on that long weekend, there is a major seminar scheduled for Montreal honouring Yamada-shihan’s 8oth birthday. We strongly encourage all senior ranks to go if possible… let us know if you have any questions about this.
  • Tuesday kids’ classes are back, starting May 15, with Igor-sensei’s return from his trip.
  • Kyu tests are scheduled for Thursday, June 7. The names of potential test candidates are posted in the dojo. If your name is not on the list but you are interested in testing, please see Jim or Yumi.
  • The annual seminar honouring Kawahara-shihan, founding technical director of the Canadian Aikido Federation and a major influence on Yumi and Jim, will be held Sat., June 9 downtown. Kids’ class will be held as usual, but both adult classes are being cancelled in favour of the seminar. Please make every effort to attend, and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. The details are on the poster.
  • Canadian Aikido Federation Summer Camp, to be led by Osawa-shihan, is coming up quickly. Registration is now open. The camp will be held in Calgary June 23-29. We very strongly encourage all senior ranks to attend. Again, let us know if you need more information.
