As of January, we are starting up our Children’s Classes again!
The Children’s Classes are for kids from about 6 to 12 years old. Older kids/teenagers can attend our regular adult classes.
Kids learn to move confidently, stay centered under pressure, and treat others with respect, skills that support them both on the mat and in everyday life. No previous martial-arts experience is needed.
For over 30 years, Aikido Hokuryukai has helped children build confidence, focus, respect, and healthy movement in a safe and supportive environment. Our kids’ program introduces the foundations of Aikido, a non-competitive Japanese martial art based on awareness, balance, and cooperation, through age-appropriate instruction, games, and partner activities.

Class Schedule
Kids’ class:
- Sundays, 8:45–9:45 AM
- Advanced members of the kids’ class may also attend the regular beginners’ class on Thursdays at 7.15pm
Small class sizes ensure individual attention and a supportive atmosphere for learning.

Your child is welcome to try one free class to see if Aikido feels right for them.
Beginner Program
After the trial, newcomers join the $220 Beginners’ Program, which includes:
- Three months of training
- A keikogi (uniform)
- Annual membership in the Canadian Aikido Federation (CAF)
Ongoing Membership
After completing the beginner program:
$70 per month, or $190 for three months
Note: Each child must also have a pair of sandals or slippers for use inside the dojo.
