Covid Policy

Aikido Hokuryukai Oct. 2, 2021

This policy may change at any time, depending on changes to government regulations, Canadian Aikido Federation requirements or worsening of the pandemic situation.

On Sept. 1, the Ontario government announced that all participants in fitness centres (the category the dojo falls into) must show proof of full vaccination starting Sept. 22.

All COVID-19 precautions as outlined in government regulations must be followed. These include:

>wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing while indoors

>members must assert in writing each time they enter the dojo that they have no COVID symptoms, have not been in close contact with anyone who has, and has completed all required quarantining.

>members should wash their hands regularly, especially before and after practice, and to use the hand sterilizer that will be made available.

>visitors and observers are not permitted in the dojo at this time. Please let us know in advance if you intend to bring a visitor into the dojo.

>any incidence of COVID infection in our membership will result in a 14-day cancellation of classes.

Exceptions will be made for practice on the tatami. These considerations include:

>members may choose not to wear a mask during practice

>members may choose not to practice with a partner, doing solo practice by themselves on a corner of the tatami. We will make every effort to accommodate this practice.

>members should practice with the same partner for the entire class

>when practicing, partners should keep distance from other people on the mat

>we will quickly clean the dojo before and after class. All members must help with this.
