Introduction to Aikido

Feeling tense and stressed out by the the lockdown? Aikido may be able to help.

By practicing Aikido you can:

  • Improve your physical fitness and relieve stress;
  • Learn to discipline and focus your mind;
  • Learn effective self-defense techniques;
  • Learn harmony with yourself and others.

The stretching, breathing and body movement practice of Aikido can be relaxing and energizing.

This introductory class to Aikido is free of charge. We will start out with some body exercise and then move into some fundamental Aikido bodywork — the foundation of the martial art

We will also include information on the concepts, history and scope of Aikido practice and answer your questions.

No previous martial arts experience is needed. The class is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. You can go at your own pace with a relaxing, non-impact practice.

All you need is comfortable clothing and a space big enough to stretch in. A mat of some kind might be comfortable but is not necessary. Turn your camera on during the Zoom session and position it so we can observe you if you want guidance during the class.

To reserve a spot for this one-hour Zoom class on February 19 at 7 PM, please fill out this Web form. You must sign and email us a waiver against injury to participate.
